DEn gudomliga komedin
Premiere September 12, 2026
A devised piece inspired by The Divine Comedy, by Dante Alighieri
Drawing inspiration from Dante Alighieri’s existential epic The Divine Comedy, we journey together through hell, purgatory, and onward toward paradise.
As we enter a red room, twelve lost bodies emerge from the shadows. Six actors and six folk dancers take us on a suggestive, humorous, and poignant exploration of the struggles and dilemmas of modern humanity.
The artistic duo, director Nina Rudawski and choreographer Ossi Niskala, lead the process. Together with the ensemble, they create the performance through an exploratory process, with the material taking shape during rehearsals and in close collaboration with folk dancers active in Örebro.
In a time marked by political shifts and existential anxiety, they seek to take the pulse of how we are really doing. The performance grows out of a desire to dig ourselves out of passivity and hopelessness, and instead remind ourselves of the healing power of art and community.
In this free interpretation, the audience is invited into a dance-driven theatrical experiment that reflects the transience and uncertainty of our time. As Dante himself wrote: “Abandon all hope, you who enter here!” Is that really so? Or is there hope to be found?
