ALL OF IT

By Alistar McDowall

A choreographed monologue about an entire life — in 60 minutes

On stage, a single performer stands, ready to release a flood of words and memories. She navigates the relentless march through childhood, sexuality, loss, relationships — the moments that define a life.

“‍Everyone dies
‍One day
‍Not today
‍Or tomorrow
‍A long time
A long long way away
Mum says
Everyone (mummydaddydavidme) dies
Everyone dies
‍Everyone dies
Go and play
Everyone dies
Don’t think about it”

Alistair McDowall’s monologue compresses an entire existence into a rapid, poetic flow, where repetition and rhythm mirror the patterns and chaos of thought and memory, drawing us into the protagonist’s inner world.

In all of it, Lilja Fredrikson explores the ever-shifting present at the intersection of language and movement.
Together with choreographer Björn Säfsten and director Nina Rudawski, they create a visceral, humorous and intimate portrait of a life through a choreographed score.

“Is this what I imagined life was Yes I suppose
walks
Lots of walks Long walks
Prams Pushchairs Cakes with Candles
Are these my images or ones we’re all given”

The performance is designed to be performed in different types of rooms – from stage to more everyday spaces such as libraries and public places, art galleries, museums or hotel bars. The aim is that all of it is performed at the intersection between the text, the space and the audience.
